My Budget Conscious Baby

When Emma first came to us, as new parents and newbie in cat ownership, I especially bought her toys - balls and fevver and even a cat tree (which she didn't even touch after 2 weeks, so we returned it unused).

She wasn't particularly crazy about the balls either nor the fevver. She and later on Buster much preferred playing ball with crumpled paper and instead of fevver, they opted for our bathrobe sash.

Oh they made us happy by making toys out of whatever we have in the house. The money we save goes to treats. I think it's a win-win situation, right?

Happy weekend everyfurry!

  4. We love our cat tree, but other than that, I can guarantee you that the more expensive and more complicated (read: mechanical) a toy is, the more likely we cats will NEVER use it! But don't tell my human - I like it when she spends scads of money on me. It shows that she cares.

  5. I like treats, and I like to play with stuff. My toys are good, but sometimes I play with my friends' shoes. :)

  6. Hi

I just came to your nice blog from Annie's (Churches in Venice). There's always room for more nice cat stories, and photos!

Yvonne, who used to be a dog snob. :-)

  7. It's so true about the toys! Yes we have a scratch post, but Austin's favourite "toy" is an old apron with lots of dangly bits! Oh and rolled up bits of paper. We saved ourselves a lot of money lol >^..^<

  8. We think that is a big win-win! Our favorite toys are the paperball balls. The bestest toys are the house toys we, ummmmm, find around in "stuff."

    Have a good weekend!

  10. It's hard not to be tempted to buy all those toys when they are packaged to attract the humans! The bathrobe sash looks like fun!

  11. My Cody is quite similar. I don't understand him sometimes. My Angel Bobo was wonderful about playing with his toys and keeping himself entertained. Not Cody.

so many toys I buy him go untouched. I have cat houses he never uses. I had one here that sat for at least an entire year before he went inside of it and now he uses it all the time.

Certain toys (like the cat tree) you have to give them much longer to get used to/investigate.

Cody's favorite toys are his Neko flies and mice...that's it...period!

  14. One of our favorits is the ring off of plastic bottles. They usually disappear under something in an hour or less.
